Venedocia Village Council
Venedocia Lions Club January
5, 2004
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Doug Ruen. Roll call was taken with council members
Jeff Davis, Charlie Good, Gloria Leiter, Lee Lare, Robert Louth and Paul Price
present. Judge Phil Campbell, Kay Louth
from the Van Wert Times Bulletin, and family members of the mayor and council
members were also present.
The oath of office was given to Jenny Pugh for the
office of clerk/treasurer, Robert Louth and Charles Good to hold the position
of council member, and Doug Ruen for
the office of mayor. Each person
was sworn in by Judge Campbell.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved.
The bills were presented as follows:

Paul Price moved to pay all bills. Lee Lare seconded the motion. Motion carried.
New Business
Mayor Ruen designated the following council members
to these positions:

Paul Price moved to elect Robert Louth as president
of council. Jeff Davis seconded the
motion. Motion carried.
Gloria Leiter moved to retain Bob Young as village
solicitor. Robert Louth seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
Lee Lare moved to hire Kim Coil as village
custodian. Jeff Davis seconded the
motion. Motion carried.
Gloria Leiter moved to employ Rod Eutsler as village
mower. Jeff Davis seconded the
motion. Motion carried.
It was brought to the council’s attention that some
residents preferred white Christmas lights over the colored lights.
Councilman Charlie Good shared information about the
village web site, including the number of people that had recently visited the
web site. He suggested posting the
village web site in the post office so that residents may obtain minutes and other
village information.
Jenny Pugh asked all elected members that wish to
decline to contribute to PERS to sign a form to be sent to PERS for their
records.
There was a discussion about posting a ‘No Parking’
sign on State Route 116 by the Jeff Davis residence. Council was concerned that there is not enough room to park cars
and maintain traffic flow at the same time.
Jenny
Pugh read the 2004 Annual Appropriation Ordinance for the village. Paul Price moved to approve the
appropriations as read. Gloria Leiter
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Lee
Lare moved to establish a blanket purchase order for AEP. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. Motion carried. The purchase order will be number 01-04.
Gloria
Leiter moved to close the meeting.
