Village of Venedocia Council Meeting

 

Venedocia Lions Club                                                               September 13, 2004

 

 

Meeting was called to order by Mayor Doug Ruen with council members Jeff Davis, Charlie Good, Lee Lare, Gloria Leiter, and Paul Price present.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

The bills were presented as follows:

Prior to paying the bills there was a discussion held about three areas in town that had dips in the street even after they had been sealed and chipped.  These areas could potentially hold water. It was decided to pay the bill, but Mayor Ruen will contact Suever Stone Co. to fix the problem.

Lee Lare moved to pay all bills.  Gloria Leiter seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Old Business

The Resolution Accepting the 2005 Tax Budget was held up for motion.  Lee Lare moved to accept the resolution.  Gloria Leiter seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Charlie Good reported that after some initial investigation it was decided that the town pumps needed repaired.  He called Reliable Plumbing and they are currently trying to fix the old parts of the pump that are not working properly.

 

Paul Price stated that he has called Bruns to come back to the village to trace the ditch problems.  Mayor Ruen mentioned that the county has a sewer jet that is available for our use.  The village would be responsible for paying the operator’s labor.

 

Two logos were submitted for the village logo contest.  Council members Lare and Leiter abstained from the voting.  Council members Davis, Good, and Price all voted for the logo designed by Stephanie Beck.  She will receive a check for $25 at the next council meeting.

 

New Business

Mayor Ruen asked councilmen Davis and Good to put up the basketball pole that was donated by Councilman Davis.

 

Mayor Ruen shared a proposed resolution sent by the Brumback Library.  Charlie Good made a motion to accept a resolution in support of the Brumback Library.  Gloria Leiter seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

It was reported that three street lights were not working or not working properly in the village.  Mayor Ruen will call AEP to fix the problem.

 

Gloria Leiter reported that there have been complaints about a number of residences in the village.  The Burnette, Shulte, and Snyder residences all reportedly have excessive junk on their property.  Mayor Ruen will contact the Burnette and Shulte residence, while a certified letter will be sent by the village solicitor to the Snyder residence.

 

Mayor Ruen shared a number of meetings and conferences that will be held during the month of October.

 

Next meeting will be October 4, 2004.

 

Paul Price moved to adjourn the meeting.  Meeting adjourned.
