Old Business
Ron Puthoff, a grant writer
who has worked for many small Van Wert County villages, spoke to the council
about possibly obtaining money for the village by lumping all interested Van
Wert County villages into one group and spreading the money out as needed. This idea would allow Mr. Puthoff to seek
larger grants. If interested, the village
would have to begin with an income survey and then a needs assessment.
Mr. Puthoff works for $30
per hour, and is paid $0.40 per mile driven.
The council will think about this opportunity and discuss it further at
the next council meeting.
In the matter of the park
water pump, a bill for $80.00 was paid to Reliable Plumbing, but Councilman
Good feels that the pump is not keeping its prime.
Council member Gloria Leiter
reported that she had talked to village solicitor Bob Young. He stated that the trees in the matter of
Sarah and Jason Kimmett are on the village property and, therefore the
village’s responsibility. Charlie Good
moved to obtain three bids for taking down the trees, as well as clean-up. Mayor Ruen will then accept the lowest bid. Only bids from bonded tree cutters will be
considered. Gloria Leiter seconded the
motion. Motion carried. It was stated that AEP would like one week
notice before the work is done.
New Business
Jenny Pugh informed council
that the village certificate of deposit has been renewed with US Bank for a
twenty-three month term at an interest rate of 4.64%.
Mayor Ruen asked for a
motion to codify the village ordinances.
Robert Louth moved to do so, with Gloria Leiter seconding the
motion. Motion carried.
Jeff Coil moved to adjourn
the meeting. Meeting adjourned.
The next meeting will be on
April 3rd, 2006.
