Old Business

•Resident Ray Young inquired about the village’s position on a possible sidewalk ordinance.  Young stated that he was not in favor of such an ordinance.  Council stated that there is talk of replacing existing sidewalks that are in poor condition, but not requiring that all homes have sidewalks.  Money for replacement would be contingent upon available grant funds, which is still being determined by the recent income survey.

•Mayor Ruen stated that about half of the income surveys have been returned to Nancy Blanke.

•The mayor also talked with Brad Core about surveying the town lot and giving possible layouts for the town library on that property.

•Mayor Ruen will be talking with Jill Leatherman to discuss the next step in codifying the village ordinances and about the legalities of taking on the operating costs of a branch library in the town.

•The mayor and village council would like to thank the Salem Presbyterian Youth Group for cleaning the streets.

•There was mention that there is a basketball post that needs attention at the park.  Also, no word on new doors for the restrooms at the park yet.

•Council asked Mayor Ruen about the intent of Vince and Marge Clement regarding replacing the sidewalk in front of their residence.  Mayor Ruen stated that a letter of the Clements’ intent is requested.

New Business

•Mayor Ruen was asked to announce that the Bigham residence will be having a garage sale on June 10th.  Gloria Leiter stated that there will be a community garage sale July 28 and 29th.

•Mayor Ruen asked about the whereabouts of a flag that was donated by Audrey Burnett.  It is believed that this flag has been used since the time it was donated.

•Paul Price moved to deny a formal tax hearing for our village.  Gloria Leiter seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

•Councilman Coil inquired about the ownership of trees that lie between a resident’s sidewalk and road.  Council was not sure about the answer to this question.

•Next meeting will be delayed until Monday, July 10th due to the 4th of July holiday.

•Charlie Good moved to adjourn the meeting.  Meeting adjourned.
