Village of Venedocia
Venedocia Lions Club January 7, 2010
The
meeting was called to order by Mayor Larry Eutsler with the following
council members present: Charlie Good and Robert Louth.
Mayor Eutsler gave the oath of office to the following people, making them members of the Venedocia Village Council: Christina Young, Gloria Leiter, Lee Lare, and Paul Price.
Mayor Eutsler assigned the following council members as voucher, warrant, purchase order signers: Paul Price, Charlie Good, and Christina Young.
Charlie Good moved to elect Robert Louth as President of Council. Gloria seconded the motion. Motion carried.
The bills were presented as follows:
Van Wert County Engineer $609.96 (#4531)
Treasurer State of Ohio $229.80 (#4532)
Mill Pond Farms, Inc. $121.25 (#4533)
AEP-street lights $234.69 (charge)
Paul Price moved to pay all bills. Robert Louth seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Old Business
There was no old business discussed.
New Business
Charlie Good moved to hire Tom Evans with Mill Pond Farms, Inc. to plow snow for the village for 2010. Paul Price seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Gloria Leiter was asked to contact Attorney Scott Gordon to ask if he is interested in being the Village Solicitor for 2010.
Gloria Leiter moved to allow the fiscal officer to pay the AEP bills as they are due each month. Charlie Good seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Mayor Eutsler stated that there had been a complaint by Linda Davis about a hole in Sue Liendecker’s yard. Upon observation it was found that the top of the septic tank had collapsed. Mayor Eutsler called Jason Menchofer from the Health Department about this issue. The mayor has not heard back from Mr. Menchofer yet.
Mayor Eutsler thanked the Venedocia Lion’s Club for putting up, taking down, and paying for the Christmas lights in the village. They were enjoyed by many. They made the town look very nice. On a similar note, the mayor noted that many residents are not adhering to the local ordinances regarding junk on their property. It was decided that a list would be compiled and letters would be sent to those individuals that are making the village look trashy.
Jenny Pugh presented the financial state of the village for the start of year 2010. Tentative appropriations were also shared and discussed. It was recommended that a portion of the village CD be cashed in to compensate for the low beginning balance in the general fund. Charlie Good moved to withdraw $5000.00 from the CD into checking. Fees for partial withdraw should be considered. Paul Price seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with all members voting ‘yes’. Motion carried.
Once there is sufficient money in the general fund, Gloria Leiter moved to pay the following bills:

Lee Lare seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Lee Lare moved to enter into contract with the Middle Point Fire Department for a term of three years. Robert Louth seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Paul Price moved for adjournment. Meeting adjourned.
Next meeting will be February 4, 2010.
