Savidge Paint and Repair $1678.70 (#4745)

James Grant $303.24 (#4746)

Jennifer Pugh $285.71 (#4747)

AEP $17.10 (charge)

OPERS $78.02 (charge)

Lee Lare moved to pay all bills. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Old Business

Village Solicitor, Scott Gordon, spoke to council regarding a conversation held with village resident, Linda (Fox) Collins. He noted that Collins had obtained an F Permit to sell alcohol. This permit allows one to sell alcohol for a limited amount of time. Besides obtaining the permit, a plan outlining the event must be submitted to the Department of Commerce. At the time of the conversation held between Gordon and Collins, said plan had not been submitted. This plan must be approved approximately thirty days prior to the event, which is slated to be held on October 6, 2012. Jerry Koenig asked for permission to speak to council about his recent conversation with Collins. He stated that Collins had approached him about the possibility of the Lions Club serving breakfast sandwiches on the day of the event. Koenig asked for an approximate number of people to plan for; Collins could not provide a solid answer. After further discussion by the council members, Chad Pugh moved to pass an emergency resolution stating that the village will not allow any activities organized by the “Venedocia Citizens to Support the Middle Point Fire Department” to take place on village property. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with the following results: Pau Price-no, Gloria Leiter-yes, Lee Lare-yes, Chad Pugh-yes, and Christina Young-yes. Motion passed. Mr. Gordon will write up the resolution and send it to the organization.

Jerry Koenig moved on to a few other items on his list. They included: the catch basin at 15267 Main Street fills up in front of the residence. This back up is possibly causing flooding issues in the basement of this house. After discussion about how long it’s been since the catch basins were cleaned, Paul Price moved to call Bruns to clean the catch basins. Chad Pugh seconded the motion. Motion carried. It is also Koenig’s opinion that the church youth group is being paid too much for cleaning the streets in the village when the catch basins continue to be dirty. He suggested asking the home owners to clean out the catch basins around their home. Pugh stated that the Youth Group was being asked to clean in the fall also. Koenig also inquired about the AEP bills being reported as “charge” in the council minutes. Pugh explained that the bills are paid electronically, therefore a check is not generated for those payments, and therefore it is considered a charge. He was assured that power would continue to be provided to the village. He concluded by noting that the Lions Club has a new website. It is VenedociaLions.org.

Mayor Eutsler called AEP about the tree that is near the power line. He was told that the home owners need to call AEP.

On the third and final reading of the junk ordinance 2012-3, Gloria Leiter moved to accept the document as read. Christina Young seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote. Motion carried. Councilman Pugh will deliver a copy of this ordinance to the current Sheriff and the incoming Sheriff.

New Business

Pugh read the Resolution Accepting the Amounts and Rates as Determined by the Budget Commission and Authorizing the Necessary Tax Levies and Certifying them to the County Auditor. Lee Lare moved to accept said resolution. Christina Young seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote. Motion passed.

Council members were asked if any of them knew of a rat problem occurring in the village. No council members had heard of or seen any rats.

Paul Price moved to adjourn.

Meeting adjourned.

The next meeting will be October 1, 2012.
