Old Business
Schmitmeyer, with Fanning and Howey, will be out during the month of September to walk through the resurfacing project. The project will be done in 2014.
Bob McCollow spoke on behalf of the trustees at the Salem Presbyterian Church. The original estimate from Brennemen Excavating has increased by approximately 10%. The total amount for the project is estimated at $10,000.00. The project includes tearing out the curbs, inserting drop boxes, and putting in new curbs that drain correctly on both the north and south sides of the lot. This project is necessary to alleviate the problem of flooded areas due to insufficient drainage on State Route 116. Christina Young moved to pay $4100.00 towards this project. A roll-call vote was taken. A unanimous ‘yes’ vote was given. Motion passed.
Sarah Smith, coordinator for the Van Wert County Business Outreach, spoke to the council about joining a group of approximately 21 other villages to apply for a $100,000.00 grant. Money to erect a building to house an office for this group is being sought through grant money. Smith says the county is asking for no money from the villages, but asking for the passage of a resolution to move forward with the grant. When asked about issues the village faces, the topic of the quality of water was discussed. A decision regarding this grant opportunity will need to be made within the next 30 days.
Ray Young expressed his concerns about the reputation of the village. He feels there’s too much bickering going on among residents. He hopes the town can come together.

The next meeting will be October 14, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.
