Regular Council Meeting
July 12, 2016 6:00 p.m.
The July council meeting was called to order by Mayor Sarah Kimmet with the following council members present: Marjorie Clement, Christina Young, Gloria Leiter, Paul Price, Tom Emery and Doug Price.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Marjorie Clement moved to pay all bills. Christina Young seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Old Business
The income surveys have been completed and tallied. The results show that the village does qualify for certain grants. Mayor Kimmet signed a contract to continue the grant process.
According to council members, there are numerous skunks in the village. Young moved to secure no more than $100 for the purpose of hiring someone to take care of the problem. Doug Price seconded the motion. Motion passed. Leiter will make a call tomorrow.
The current dog ordinances (ordinance 1983-1 and 1983-2) were reviewed and found to be acceptable. Councilman Emery will make copies and distribute them to each house in the village as a reminder of the expectations.
New Business
After Pugh explained that the fire fund exceeds the amount necessary to pay the yearly contract, councilman Young moved to reduce the amount of taxes collected from 1.2 mils to 0.7 mils for the remainder of 2016. Councilman Emery seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with the following results:

Leiter moved to accept the resolution to proceed with placing a 1.2 mil levy for the purpose of fire protection on the 2016 November ballot. Councilman Clement seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with the following results:

Pugh presented the proposed 2017 budget. After discussion and a few changes, P.Price moved to accept the prepared budget. Councilman Leiter seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with the following results:

The question was raised about naming the street on which the Lions Club resides. Pugh will call the county engineers office to ask about this.
There will be a community garage sale in the village on Friday, August 12th and Saturday, August 13th. All are invited to participate.
At 7:05 p.m. Leiter moved for adjournment. The next meeting will be August 1, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Meeting adjourned.
