Village of Venedocia

Regular Council Meeting

February 5, 2018 6:30 p.m.

The March council meeting was called to order by Mayor Sarah Kimmet with the following council members present: Marjorie Clement, Gloria Leiter, Paul Price, and Jordan Young.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The bills were presented as follows:

Majorie Clement moved to pay all bills. Tom Emery seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Old Business

The mayor read Joanne Simmerman’s email regarding the foreclosure process on three properties in the village, active negotiations on one, and one offer that has been declined.

Craig Knapke shared the plans that have been drawn up for the street reconstruction project. He listed replacing curbs and sidewalks, taking out asphalt and replacing with concrete aprons in some areas, and removing some trees as work that will accompany the street project. The guard rail at the church will be removed and replaced with a decorative block wall during this process. A total of six utility poles will be effected by the renovations. The old storm sewer under the street will be removed and a new line will be run under the sidewalks. Knapke will be back in April to share the cost estimate versus funding. Paul Price moved to pay Access Engineering $24,500 (from the OPWC grant) to continue work on the project. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote indicated. Motion carried.

Ordinance 2018-2 was read by Pugh (copy attached). Gloria Leiter moved to accept the ordinance. Margie Clement seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote indicated. Motion carried.

New Business

There was no new business to discuss at this time.

At 7:18 p.m. Leiter moved for adjournment. The next meeting will be April 2, 2018 at 6:30. Meeting adjourned.

Ordinance #2018-2

ORDINANCE STATING THE VILLAGE OF VENEDOCIA DOES HEREBY ELECT TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE VAN WERT LAND REUTILIZATION CORPORTATION.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF VENEDOCIA, STATE OF OHIO:

SECTION I: Now comes the council for the Village of Venedocia of, Ohio after duly appointed meeting of said council and hereby makes the following ordinance pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code Section 5722.02 (A) to elect to adopt and implement the procedures set forth in sections 5722.02 to 5722.15 of the Revised Code to facilitate the effective reutilization of nonproductive land situated within the Village of Venedocia, County of Van Wert, and State of Ohio.

SECTION II: Whereas the Village of Venedocia does acknowledge that the existence of nonproductive land within its boundaries is such as to necessitate the implementation of a land reutilization program to foster either the return of such nonproductive land to tax revenue generating status or the devotion thereof to public use.

SECTION III: Therefore, the Village of Venedocia of Venedocia does hereby elect to enter into an agreement with the Van Wert Land Reutilization Corporation to implement the procedures set forth in sections 5722.02 to 5722.15 of the Revised Code within the boundaries of the Village of Venedocia. Pursuant to section 5722.02(C) of the Revised Code, a certified copy of the ordinance shall be delivered to the auditor, treasurer, and prosecutor of Van Wert County.

SECTION IV: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the earliest date permitted by law. All ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance and passed prior to the effective date of this ordinance, be and the same hereby are repealed simultaneously.
