Village of Venedocia
Regular Council Meeting
June 4, 2018
The June council meeting was called to order by Mayor Sarah Kimmet with the following council members present: Doug Price, Paul Price, Margie Clement, and Tom Emery. Craig Knapke was also in attendance.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Paul Price moved to pay all bills. Majorie Clement seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Old Business
Craig Knapke with Access Engineering provided information for the council regarding bids for the resurfacing project. After reviewing the bids, Paul Price made a motion to accept the base bid from PAB from Coldwater, OH for $742,603.50. All other bids came in higher than PAB. Tom Emery seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote indicated. Motion passed. The schedule shows the work beginning in mid-September section by section. All sections will be completed as weather allows.
Paul Price also moved to approve an invoice of $7500 from Access Engineering and authorize the necessary signatures. Tom Emery seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with all members indicating a ‘yes’ vote. Motion carried.
Knapke noted that a preconstruction meeting will take place before work begins.
On behalf of council person Leiter, Pugh shared that the Van Wert County Foundation grant application is on-line and is due November 1st. Council should consider what needs the village has that could be met if this money is awarded. Basketball rims and paint were mentioned.
The mayor shared an update from Joanne Simmerman: two properties are set for demolition, with a third waiting for an asbestos inspection, and the fourth pending the payment of back taxes.
New Business
Pugh shared the 2019 budget. After council reviewed it, Paul Price made a motion to accept the budget as prepared. Marjorie Clement seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken, with all in favor of the budget. Motion passed.
Councilman Emery shared news about an opportunity for housing assistance for home owners called Community Housing Impact and Preservation, or CHIP. More information can be found in the post office.
Council Paul Price stated the Kimmet residents inquired about buying the town lot-more discussion will follow.
At 7:17 p.m. Doug Price moved for adjournment. Meeting adjourned.
The next meeting will be moved due to the July 4th holiday. It will be Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.
