Regular Council Meeting

April 6, 2020

The April council meeting was called to order by Mayor Vern Hobbs, with the following council members present: Marjorie Clement, Gloria Leiter, Tom Emery, Doug Price, Phil Eutsler, and Paul Price. Also in attendance was village resident, James Grant.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved by Paul Price and seconded by Tom Emery. Motion passed.

The bills were presented as follows:

Gloria Leiter moved to pay all bills. Tom Emery seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Old Business

The Health Department has been and will be contacted again to follow up on the progress of cleaning up 19065 Plum Street. Two other properties that will be reported as needing attention are: 19011 Plum Street and 18973 Bebb Street.

Mayor Hobbs talked with Krista Burro-Summerton at the Van Wert County Land Bank. The village can buy the property at 15069 Evans Street for $100, keep it for one year, and then sell it, if they wish. Paul Price moved to make this purchase; Margie Clement seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote. Mayor Hobbs will contact Ms. Summerton to prepare paperwork.

Mayor Hobbs and Doug Price will speak with Mike Pohlman about the recurring drainage issues on Pohlman’s farm ground. Bids will be accepted for the purpose of fixing tile the problem. A mobile meeting among the council, mayor, and fiscal officer will be conducted to expedite the process of accepting a bid so that spring planting won’t be held up.

New Business

Paul Price moved for Phil Eutsler to purchase two rims, not to exceed a total of $200, for the park. The Van Wert County Foundation Grant money will be used to fund this purchase. Margie Clement seconded the motion. Motion carried.

At 6:45 p.m. Paul Price moved for adjournment. Gloria Leiter seconded. Meeting adjourned. Next meeting will be May 4, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
